Mathis Foundation For Children
The mfc Scholoarship Program
The Mathis Foundation for Children has been established to fund organizations that assist children in crisis. The Foundation has implemented several scholarship programs in an effort to educate children in out of home placements. Participating schools: Purcell Marian High School, Elder High School, Holy Family Elementary & St. Francis DeSales Elementary, LaSalle High School, St. Rita's School for the Deaf, Roger Bacon High School and Seton High School.
Scholarship Program

Mathis Foundation scholarship recipients are at risk youth living in out-of-home situations needing financial help with their tuition. It is our belief that children in unstable living situations benefit greatly from a stable school environment; therefore, we select each recipient carefully and assign each child a mentor to support the child throughout the years of their school experience.

Seton and Elder High Schools are two of the six schools whose students benefit from the "mfc Scholarship Program"

Testimonials

"We have a variety of different types of scholarships at Elder. Generous alums and friends who donate toward these scholarships often times have a specific type of student they want to help. The Mathis Foundation for Children is no exception, and we are extremely grateful to have them as friends of Elder. With Mathis, we have found that the "scholarship" goes well beyond helping with a student's tuition expenses. It's more of a guiding light - a crutch that is provided to a young man at a crucial time of his life when it is needed most. At Elder, through these guiding lights we call our benefactors, we are able to help as many kids as possible"

"We feel so priviledged to have been selected to benefit from the Mathis Foundation's generosity. The scholarship assistance enables Seton High School to help a worthy student to receive the quality, Catholic education she/he desires and deserves. Beyond the financial assistance, however, the foundation is providing a mentor to our student. This additional personal support will really make a difference in his/her life. We are deeply grateful to the Mathis family for their willingness to give both time and financial support for a quality education to a needy student."
