In 1997 the Mathis Foundation recognized an opportunity to provide members of our community with a unique golf experience unlike any other in the area. From its inception the Mathis Foundation Golf Classic has delivered a star-studded cast of celebrities. Celebrating Mike’s roots in the NBA, early Golf Classics featured high profile players and referees from the NBA. As we have grown, so has our field of celebrities. From the pre-event party to the culmination of the three day event, players interact with stars like NBA Hall of Famer Larry Bird. As our event has grown, we have attracted celebrities from the MLB, NHL, NFL NBA Referees and the PBA. We conduct a two day competition that pits local winners against our celebrities for ownership of the coveted Mathis Rock. With all that we offer, the Golf Classic is a can’t miss event.
